Local stocks open lower Monday tracking Asian markets following overnight negative cues from Wall Street and as US-China trade deal euphoria fades.

Asian stocks traded lower Monday as investors remained cautious over global growth prospects while Chinese President Xi Jinping tried to position China as globalization champion in a major speech.

Oil prices will be closely watched as US sanctions on Iran are set to snap back in place on Monday.

Brent traded 0.58% lower at $72.41/barrel while WTI traded 0.78% down at $62.69/barrel. The greenback surged against its major peers after the release of US jobs data while investors focus on the trade dispute between the US and China at the end of the week.

BSE Sensex fell 0.17 percent to 34,950.92, NSE Nifty declined 0.27 percent to 10,524.
