USD/INR closed at 70.67 against its open at 71.13.  Dollar/rupee ended at 12-week low Thursday on selling by foreign banks and exporters tracking a sharp fall in greenback amid remittance related overseas inflows ahead of a long weekend.Also, easing crude oil prices boosted sentiments globally, weighing further on dollar demand.

The greenback traded slightly higher against its major peers despite dismal economic data.The Commerce Department said durable goods orders fell by 4.4% in October following a revised 0.1% dip in September.

Excluding a steep drop in orders for transportation equipment, durable goods orders inched up by 0.1% in October after a revised 0.6% decrease in September. Ex-transportation orders had been expected to rise by 0.4% compared to the 0.1% uptick originally reported for the previous month. A separate report from the Labour Department showed first-time claims for US unemployment benefits unexpectedly edged higher in the week ended Nov 17.

The report said initial jobless claims increased to 224,000, a rise of 3,000 from the previous week's upwardly revised level of 221,000.
